Umbrella School Application Form

Colorado Heritage Education School System
With the Word of God for our foundation, CHESS seeks to assist, equip, and encourage home school families in their endeavor to see their children succeed spiritually and academically.

CHESS (Colorado Heritage Education School System) is a non-profit, parochial, private Christian school under the direction of Reformation Baptist Church that supervises and supports families who educate their children at home. CHESS was founded in 1991 and has an enrollment of 200 plus families from all parts of Colorado.
Private School's Advantage

There is a different code of regulations for private schools than for home educators without a private school umbrella. Even if you are enrolled in a school outside Colorado you are required to keep your test scores on file with a Colorado private or public school.

Since CHESS is a private school you have the following advantages over unaffiliated home educators.

❑ You have a private school confirming your program of study.

❑ You do not have to report your test scores or progress to the school district.

❑ Your school records can be transferred to another school.

❑ You have an umbrella of protection for legal issues.

We receive referrals from public schools and have provided transcripts for students enrolled in the high school program who are transferring to other schools, entering college, and receiving scholarships. No CHESS course credits have been refused by any public school or college.
